In Office Snoring Treatment

Snoring treatments have traditionally required painful procedures that usually involve the operating room and great expense. The physicians of The Nasal and Sinus Center can treat snoring with a simple, cost effective, painless clinic procedure. The soft palate is typically the site of snoring. As air moves over the soft palate while you sleep, the tissue has a tendency to vibrate like a flag in the wind. A simple clinic injection that induces a small scar over the soft palate will tighten this tissue. This allows for less vibration and consequently less snoring. Since the procedure is simple, the cost is a fraction of other procedures requiring surgery or expensive medical devices. The physicians of The Nasal and Sinus Center have the knowledge and expertise to improve your snoring problems during your initial visit to the clinic.

Nasal Surgery WITHOUT Packing

Nasal surgery has long had the reputation for being a painful, uncomfortable procedure. If you ask anyone who has undergone an unpleasant nasal procedure, most times you will find that it was not the surgery that was bad, it was the postoperative nasal packing and its removal that caused all the problems. The main purpose of nasal packing is to decrease postoperative bleeding and scar formation. The surgery technique used by the physicians at Nasal & Sinus Center of Austin does not require nasal packing. With this surgery technique, patients are able to breathe through their nose immediately after surgery and have a decreased risk of postoperative infection.

The physicians of The Nasal and Sinus Center of Austin are committed to resolving all of your nasal and sinus issues using the most up to date methods with the least amount of discomfort.

Chronic Sinusitis

Topical Antibiotic Treatment:

A new and exciting treatment is available for patients with chronic sinusitis. The physicians of the Nasal and Sinus Center of Austin have partnered with local pharmacies to develop custom topical antibiotic regimens for our patients.

Painless office nasal endoscopy can provide an accurate culture of the patients sinus infection. This culture is then sent to local laboratories where the bacteria or fungus can be identified. This organism is then tested against a wide variety of available antibiotics to determine the appropriate choice to treat the infection. The pharmacy then will make a topical microparticle mist spray containing this antibiotic that can be applied directly to the nasal and sinus cavities. Multiple different sprays can be used in situations where there is more than one infecting organism.

Traditionally, a "guess" antibiotic is given orally with significant risk of systemic side effects and no local relief.

Our approach has several advantages: the guess work is removed about what antibiotic to use; the use of the antibiotic topically may remove your need to use any oral antibiotics; and the spray can help loosen up and lubricate the sinus lining providing topical relief.

The physicians of The Nasal and Sinus Center of Austin are commited to painless and rapid recovery for your difficult sinus issues.
